The Anniversary release of War of the Ring was released in spring 2017 and incorporates the Second Edition base game, its components, and several enhancements. These enhancements are: • All figures are hand-painted. • The rule book and Event cards are updated with the latest FAQ and Errata at the time of printing. No rules or card effects have changed but some clarifications and language simplifications have been incorporated. • The game rules and a never before released Companion, written by Kristofer Bengtsson, are included as two beautiful hardcover volumes, both graced by full-color art by John Howe. • The Action Dice (16 dice) and deluxe Combat Dice (two sets of 5 dice each) are produced in new colors (white for the Free Peoples and black for the Shadow). • The game board is larger (for a total playing area of about 3' x 4') and the Mordor track has been hot-foil stamped onto the board. • The reference sheets have been improved with a glossary and printed on special cardstock. • A bag with the War of the Ring Anniversary Release logo is included for use as the Hunt bag. • Each copy of the Anniversary Release is accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity. The counters and cards are the same as those included in War of the Ring Second Edition, to ensure full compatibility with the regular version and its expansions (Lords of Middle-earth, regular and limited edition, as well as the Warriors of Middle-earth expansion).
