As the dwarves of Khazad-dûm delved too deep they awoke a terrible demon of the ancient world. Now the Shadow player can decide if the Balrog is to appear on the board, and make the route through Moria extremely dangerous for the Fellowship.

The Free Peoples player now has access to the wisdom and guidance of Lady Galadriel, this can be instrumental to the success of the Quest of the Ring-bearers, and her power makes the Golden Woods more difficult for the Shadow to conquor.




Smeagol, Tamed Wretch

Once tamed Smeagol can become quite an asset to the Fellowship of the Ring, just make sure he doesn't turn on you. Because if he does he will become an asset to the Shadow.
